I came across MobDB the other day thanks to one of those beta lists that I completely forget the name of. When I remember, Ill update the post. Anyway this one really caught my eye as I think I could seriously use it for a number of applications.

The team over at Chaotic Moon based in Austin, Texas specialize in having as much fun with technology as they possibly can, hence the creation of the Board of Awesomeness (BOA). Its an electric longboard that is controlled using motion picked up by a Kinect and then transmitted to an as yet unreleased Samsung Windows 8 tablet it uses for a brain. The result is one of the coolest, and probably most dangerous, skateboard rides we have seen.
Capable of speeds of up to 32mph, the BOA combines video and speech recognition with location and accelerometer data to allow you to control the speed at which the board travels.

The first software that runs when a computer is turned on is the “Basic Input/Output System” (BIOS). This fundamental system software initializes the hardware before the operating system starts. Since it works at such a low level, before other security protections are in place, unauthorized changes — malicious or accidental — to the BIOS can cause a significant security threat.
“Unauthorized changes in the BIOS could allow or be part of a sophisticated, targeted attack on an organization, allowing an attacker to infiltrate an organization’s systems or disrupt their operations,” said Andrew Regenscheid, one of the authors of BIOS Integrity Measurement Guidelines (NIST Special Publication 800-155).

Our second bottle related news piece of the day – who would have thought we’d ever be able to say that? – comes from DIY Photography. They have a tutorial up on how to create a snoot using a 20oz. bottle of Coke; or any other soft drink.The assembly of this snoot is quick, easy, and requires almost zero know-how. As long as you can cut a plastic bottle and use tape, you should be able to put it together pretty simply.
